In 2017 Rajiv helped build and chair the Leadership Council in Indonesia for The Nature Conservancy nature.org. Now, he also serves as a council member on the Asia Pacific board and continues to serve as an advisory member to TNC in Indonesia through its Indonesian foundation, Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara ykan.org. "TNC's science-based approach to conservation is second to none and their dedication to Indonesia is long and profound, extending almost 30 years. I am proud to continue to serve on their advisory boards in Asia."
Starting in 2019, Rajiv was invited to join the board of African Parks Network africanparks.org where he serves as a member of the Asia Pacific Advisory Board. African Parks works in 12 countries in Africa and is working to rehabilitate and manage over 20 parks in these countries. The task is herculean and led by a team that is dedicated absolutely to wildlife conservation. Programs such as the reintroduction of lions and rhino to Akagera National Park in Rwanda, conservation of the critically endangered shoebill stork in Bangweulu Wetlands in Zambia, or the translocation of 34 red-necked ostrich chicks from Zakouma National Park to northern Chad are but a few programs that highlight the remarkable achievements of this incredible organization. “Being invited to be part of African Parks' advisory board was one of the most defining moments in my career. Veronika and I are so blessed to be part of this conservation effort in Africa and have pledged to focus as much of our family's efforts, both financial and sweat, to furthering the existing and future programs of African Parks in Africa, and God willing some day in the future in Indonesia.”
More recently Rajiv was invited to join the global board of the Pho3nix Foundation pho3nixfoundation.com. Founded by businessman Sebastian Kulczyk the Pho3nix Foundation is an effort to create a worldwide legacy in which sport and activity are integral to the personal development of all young people, fostering a sense of purpose, focus, and possibility that strengthens across generations. The goal is to bring Pho3nix programs to Indonesia and eventually Africa and improve the lives of children everywhere through sport and physical activity. “This was a fantastic way for me to bring my love of sport and triathlon and endurance sport specifically to a good cause. Thanks to working with sporting legends like Chris McCormack we see a genuine way to grow Pho3nix and impact the lives of children.”
In his professional work, Rajiv led UBS in Indonesia for 10 years serving as its head of investment banking as well as UBS' country head in Indonesia. His work with UBS and other financial institutions have allowed him to build a remarkable network of relationships with major family groups and corporations throughout Asia. Some of the largest groups in the region count Rajiv amongst their most trusted relationships, a privilege he does not take for granted. He also served The Carlyle Group as Managing Director for Indonesia and finally from 2018 - 2020 served New Hope Group (China), one of China's largest integrated food and agrifood conglomerates as Head of South East Asia and VP International. “I'm honored to have worked with so many global organizations in leadership roles and privileged to have served clients, many of whom I now count as close friendships. My goal from hereon in is to continue to nurture these relationships to drive conservation efforts in Asia and Africa.”
